Hands & Voices is transforming the lives of deaf and hard of hearing children around the world. The 2011 WHO/WB World Report on Disability lists hearing loss and deafness as the most common and debilitating disability worldwide: "A lack of accessible communication and information affects the lives of many disabled people. Individuals with communication difficulties, such as hearing impairment...are at a significant social disadvantage...This disadvantage is particularly experienced in sectors where effective communication is critical – such as those things of health care, education, local government, and justice." …At Hands & Voices, we believe that when families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children receive good support and information, their kids CAN achieve their potential!!
Ninety-five percent of all deaf or hard of hearing babies are born into hearing families with no prior experience with deafness or hearing loss. Hands & Voices provides direct support, unbiased resources, support and education needed by these families so their child can live to their full potential.
$25 provides one free membership to a family $50 provides one hour of training for Parent Guides to provide support and education to a family. $50 provides two hours of special education coaching directly to families $75 provides up to the minute cutting edge resources to families and professionals $100 provides culturally specific resources to our Hispanic families. $500 provides parents free webinar trainings on educational advocacy.
